I’m Carmen — a higher education professional with over 20 years of experience across both the academic and student life sides of the house. I’ve guided thousands of students through their college transitions. Then it was my own kid’s turn, and everything I knew professionally didn’t protect me from feeling it personally.
That’s why I started The Other Orientation — college guidance for the parents nobody hands a roadmap to. I write from the inside out. Twenty years of professional expertise, filtered through the very human experience of being a parent living it right alongside you.
